Jets Name Hymie Elhai President, Will Oversee All Business Ops

Glat had been in charge of the business side of the Jets organization since '12JETS

The NFL Jets have promoted Senior VP/Business Affairs & General Counsel Hymie Elhai to the role of team President, according to Darryl Slater of the Newark STAR-LEDGER. Elhai replaces Neil Glat, who stepped down over the weekend. Elhai, a '16 SBJ "Forty Under 40" honoree, has been an "influential figure with the Jets for years." He assisted Jets Chair & CEO Christopher Johnson with the "hiring of head coach Adam Gase" this past offseason. Elhai is "entering his 20th season with the Jets." The Jets said that Elhai will work with Gase and GM Joe Douglas to "'integrate football and business operations,' in addition to overseeing all of the Jets’ business operations." The Jets today also promoted Senior VP & CFO Brian Friedman to Exec VP & COO (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 9/3). In N.Y., Brian Costello noted Glat has served as the Jets President and been "in charge of the business side of the organization" since '12. The Jets said that he "would now serve as a senior adviser." Glat said, "There's never a good time to leave, but it's the right time for me to take on new challenges" (N.Y. POST, 8/31). Glat "spent 15 years working for the league office before joining the Jets" (N.Y. DAILY NEWS, 8/31).
