Media Notes

THE ATHLETIC's Jen McCaffrey wrote Padres announcer Don Orsillo's "funny stories, contagious laugh and all-around good nature make even mundane games enjoyable." The former Red Sox announcer, now in his fourth season with the Padres, "still talks" to NESN's Jerry Remy "almost daily via text and hears from Red Sox fans frequently on social media." His departure from NESN was "surprising to many -- Orsillo included." But he has "moved on from that unpleasant exit and remains a venerated presence in Boston" (THEATHLETIC.com, 8/24).

BACK AT IT AGAIN: Tony Bruno is "returning to terrestrial radio" and joining ESPN Radio 97.3 Philadelphia as the "station's de-facto NFL pre-game host." Bruno will "host a two-hour show ahead of every Eagles game," and he will "provide two hours of coverage each week" before "MNF" and "TNF." Bruno "hasn't had his own show on radio" since '15 (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 8/28).

NOISE POLLUTION: S.F.-based KFOG-FM has "given up on rock altogether" and on Sept. 6 will "drop those famous call letters to become the FM brand for KNBR, the AM sports and talk station." KFOG started in '64 and "switched from easy listening to rock" in '82 (S.F. CHRONICLE, 8/27).
