Las Vegas Dethrones Charlotte Knights Atop MiLB Attendance

The Aviators' new Las Vegas Ballpark opened in April, and has seen MiLB-leading crowds ever sinceLAS VEGAS AVIATORS

The Triple-A PCL Las Vegas Aviators are averaging 9,241 fans per game at their new Las Vegas Ballpark, putting them on pace for the MiLB attendance title and "well ahead" of the second-place Int'l League Columbus Clippers, who are averaging 8,684 fans per game, according to Steve Lyttle of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. The Triple-A Int'l League Charlotte Knights, who had held the MiLB attendance title for four of the past five years, will not be "anywhere near first place in that department this year." The Knights last season had an average of 8,980 fans per home date, including 23 sellout crowds, but that number has fallen to 8,523 this year, with 11 sellouts. That average put the Knights in seventh place in the '19 average attendance rankings. The Knights had "soared to the top" of the attendance standings when BB&T Ballpark opened in '14. The Knights then "topped the minors annually" until this year, except for when the Int'l League Indianapolis Indians "took the crown" in '17 (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 8/28).
