Keith Jackson Will Be Honored With Statue At Rose Bowl Stadium

Jackson called more Rose Bowls than anyone and coined the term "the granddaddy of them all"ESPN IMAGES

Late broadcaster Keith Jackson will be "immortalized with a statue at the entrance of the Rose Bowl Stadium, possibly as early as December," according to Bradley Bermont of the L.A. DAILY NEWS. Jackson, who "coined the Rose Bowl game 'the granddaddy of them all,'" was the announcer for "more Rose Bowl games than any other television broadcaster." Jackson's statue will be "at the stadium's entrance," joining statues of Jackie Robinson and former USWNT star Brandi Chastain. Jackson's statue is the "work of Brian Hanlon, who did both of the other statues" as well. Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation Chief Development Officer Dedan Brozino and his staff "raised all of the funds used for the statue from more than 150 donors from across the country" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 8/28).
