Facility Notes

In Sacramento, Benjy Egel noted the Triple-A PCL Sacramento River Cats' ballpark will be "known as Sutter Health Park starting next season, dropping the Raley Field title" that has been associated with the facility since it opened in '00. River Cats President Jeff Savage said that Sutter Health Park will be the name of the ballpark "for the next 15 years." The California-based nonprofit healthcare provider has "long sponsored several River Cats activities." Financial terms of the deal "are not being made publicly available" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 8/24).

GAME ON: In L.A., Arash Markazi noted Kroenke Sports & Entertainment's esports teams will play in a "6,000-seat performance venue that is being built under the same canopy that will cover the 70,000-seat football stadium that will serve as the home of the Rams and Chargers in Inglewood." KSE's esports teams include the Overwatch League L.A. Gladiators and a yet-to-be-named team in the Call Of Duty League set to launch next year.  While the "original idea for the performance venue was to hold concerts and movie premieres, the Kroenkes are focused on making it a premiere esports venue as well" (L.A. TIMES, 8/27).

NEW DIGS: USTA CEO & Exec Dir Gordon Smith spoke about whether they have any more plans to upgrade the grounds at the U.S. Open.
