Broncos President of Football Operations JOHN ELWAY today revealed a longtime battle with Dupuytren contracture, a debilitating hand condition which can lead to his fingers constricting. Elway is going public with his condition to raise “awareness about the condition he’s kept hidden for the last 15 years.” Elway said he went to his “hand doctor a long time ago, but there were only surgical options." Now, there is a "non-surgical treatment, and it’s been great.” Elway is a paid spokesperson for Endo Pharmaceuticals, which is behind the awareness campaign (“Today,” NBC, 8/22).

COURT REPORT: A grand jury has indicted former Univ. of New Mexico AD PAUL KREBS on "seven felony counts in connection with a golf trip to Scotland" in '15 that was "paid for, in part, with university funds." Krebs had been "scheduled to appear in court next week for a preliminary hearing, where a judge would have determined after hearing evidence during a public hearing if there was probable cause Krebs committed a crime" (ALBUQUERQUE JOURNAL, 8/22).

MAKING A STATEMENT: Former U.S. figure skating coach RICHARD CALLAGHAN has been "declared 'permanently ineligible' by the U.S. Center for SafeSport for 'sexual misconduct involving (a) minor.'" The banishment "comes 12 days after ADAM SCHMIDT, 34, a former skating student of Callaghan's, filed a lawsuit in San Diego alleging Callaghan repeatedly sexually abused him" from '99-'01 (USA TODAY, 8/22).

NAMES: The Haslam 3 Foundation, funded by Browns Owners DEE and JIMMY HASLAM, is donating $4.5M for "education-based programs at three arts organizations -- Playhouse Square, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Cleveland Orchestra" (CLEVELAND PLAIN DEALER, 8/22)....SIMONE BILES has "unveiled a 17-part course in gymnastics fundamentals, designed for potential use by beginners and advanced students alike" that will be available on MasterClass.com (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 8/21)....Former NFLer CHARLES WOODSON has launched a new wine, Intercept, with O'Neill Vintners & Distillers (DETROIT NEWS, 8/22)....Indians RF YASIEL PUIG on Monday visited Camp Simcha in New York’s Catskill Mountains. It is the “only kosher overnight summer camp for children and teens with cancer, and it hosts children battling other diseases” (MLB.com, 8/20)....SERENA WILLIAMS will be "one of the top speakers" for the '19 Forbes Under 30 Summit, set for Oct. 27-30 at Masonic Temple in Detroit (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 8/22)....COLIN KAEPERNICK will be the “guest curator of Paper magazine’s upcoming ‘People’ issue, which hits newsstands Sept. 3” (N.Y.
