The Cavaliers will "introduce the Wall of Honor program to recognize former members of the franchise -- a new way to pay tribute to individuals who have made significant contributions to the Cavaliers and played a distinguished, pivotal role in team history," according to Chris Fedor of the Cleveland PLAIN DEALER. The inaugural class will "feature five inductees selected by a diverse committee made up of longtime Cavaliers staff, broadcasters and legends." The Wall of Honor will "immediately include the eight people who have previously had their jerseys retired by the Cavs." Each member "must have been part of the Cavs organization for at least two seasons and needs to be retired from playing or working for the Cavs for at least five seasons." That means LeBron James and Kyrie Irving are "not yet eligible for induction and won’t be part of the inaugural class." The Wall of Honor, which will "reside prominently in the North Atrium area of newly-transformed Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse’s main concourse, will feature a mosaic of custom designed tiles that represent each honoree" (Cleveland PLAIN DEALER, 8/21).
