Anaheim Arena Management Will Be New Operator Of Pechanga Arena

San Diego officials selected Anaheim Arena Management, owner of the AHL San Diego Gulls, to be the "new operator" of Pechanga Arena, according to David Garrick of the SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE. AAM will "take over operations of the arena next May" if the City Council approves the deal. Pechanga Resort & Casino in Temecula, Calif., holds the stadium naming rights. Current operators AEG Management and the Hahn family, who "pay the city $800,000 a year for the opportunity to host events in the arena, submitted a bid to continue operating it after their contract runs out in May." But after "reviewing the bids," city officials selected AAM, which also runs Honda Center, home to the Gulls' NHL affiliate, the Ducks. San Diego "plans to offer" AAM a "three-year lease with two one-year extensions that the city would have the discretion to nullify" (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 8/20).
