McLane Stadium Comes Under New Management With ClubCorp

Dallas-based ClubCorp has assumed control of Baylor's McLane Stadium from Pennsylvania-based SMG, and Baylor Club GM Mike Mosel said that the change "will give ClubCorp opportunity to innovate," according to Mike Copeland of the WACO TRIBUNE-HERALD. ClubCorp has previously overseen the "upscale 2,300-member Baylor Club at McLane Stadium," while SMG had control of the the stadium itself since it opened in '14. Mosel said that the stadium has "'unlimited potential' that ClubCorp can tap, leveraging its clout and profile in the venue management arena." He also cited  "access to the playing surface, parking areas, Touchdown Alley and other nooks and crannies" in the 43,000-seat venue. Baylor and the stadium authority "reportedly want more bang, brisket and bands for their buck, with the policy board approving a $100,000 buyout of SMG." ClubCorp Regional VP Brandon Millares said that the company has a "similar arrangement with Florida State" (WACO TRIBUNE-HERALD, 8/17).
