Tuesday's "Hard Knocks" Sees Highest Viewership Since '15

The second episode of HBO's "Hard Knocks" was "watched by 887,000 viewers," which is the "highest number" for an episode since the '15 season finale featuring the Texans, which drew 894,000, according to Chuck Barney of the San Jose MERCURY NEWS. What is "also significant" about the number on Tuesday is that it "represents a slight increase over the audience for last week’s season opener, which was watched by 879,000 viewers." Audiences for TV shows generally "decrease somewhat after a premiere." But the fact that the numbers went up is a "good sign for HBO, especially since the season opener was panned by many fans who deemed it too slow and boring." Tuesday’s viewership was an 18% increase "over last summer’s second episode" featuring the Browns (San Jose MERCURY NEWS, 8/15).
