Marketplace Roundup

In Chicago, Katlyn Smith notes socks featuring the likeness of golfer Bubba Watson are on sale at the merchandise tent this week at the PGA Tour BMW Championship at Medinah. Watson's cheek mole, his pink driver and even his "long, brown mane" are all featured. Fans can "purchase his light cushion socks for $17.99, along with other pairs made by Stance," a California-based label for which Watson "became a brand ambassador" in '16 (Chicago DAILY HERALD, 8/13).

WEARING WORDS: In Phoenix, Jeremy Cluff noted the Coyotes have created a T-shirt featuring a phrase which new Owner Alex Meruelo said during his introductory press conference: "I sure as s**t want to win." The Coyotes recently announced that the shirt featuring the quote can be "purchased at the team's official store." The shirt is "bound to be popular with a fan base that, well, really wants to win," and Meruelo is "bound to be popular if the team does win" (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 8/13).

MEAL TIME! In K.C., Pete Grathoff notes viewers during the Chiefs' preseason opener saw QB Patrick Mahomes "multiple times thanks to his new commercial for the grocery-store chain Hy-Vee." In the ad, Mahomes "accidentally throws footballs into the yards and homes of his neighbors who are all preparing meals." Chiefs fans "seemed to like the commercial" (K.C. STAR, 8/13).
