Starks said that he will continue working with the Jazz front-office staff on basketball decisionsgetty images
Jazz President Steve Starks was promoted to CEO of the Larry H. Miller Group, which now "leaves a hole at the top" of the Jazz' front office, according to Andy Larsen of the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE. Jazz Exec VP Don Stirling will fill the role on an "interim basis until a new team president is found." The Larry H. Miller Group, named for the late Jazz owner, includes Larry H. Miller Sports & Entertainment, which owns the Jazz, NBA 2K League Jazz Gaming and other properties, as well as a number of auto dealerships and financial services companies. Starks will "maintain" his role as the Jazz' alternate rep on the NBA BOG, with former Jazz CEO Greg Miller "still the primary representative." Starks said that he will also "still be working" with Exec VP/Basketball Operations Dennis Lindsey, GM Justin Zanik and coach Quin Snyder in "much the same fashion, despite the new title." Larsen notes the search for a new team president will include both "external and internal" candidates, and will "focus on managing the business side of operations while Starks maintains a similar impact on the basketball side" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 8/8). In Utah, Jasen Lee notes Starks also had been "responsible" for the NBA G League Salt Lake City Stars, the Triple-A PCL Salt Lake Bees, Vivint Smart Home Arena, Megaplex Theatres, the Tour of Utah professional cycling race and the Zone Sports Network (DESERET NEWS, 8/8).
