MLB Players' Weekend To Feature On-Field Mobile/Social Usage

Players will wear monochromatic all-black and all-white uniforms and batting helmets during Players' WeekendMLB

MLB is bringing back its Players’ Weekend initiative for the third straight year between Aug. 23-25. Players will again be able to select nicknames that will appear on the backs of their jerseys and have the chance to use uniquely designed equipment during games. A patch honoring late Angels P Tyler Skaggs will also be available for players to wear on their uniforms, if they choose. Expanded pregame mobile device usage will be new to Players’ Weekend this year. Prior to the National Anthem, players can use phones and tablets on the field to promote the event via social media. Players will have the option to wear a T-shirt highlighting a charity of his choice pre- and postgame. One player from each team has been named a Players’ Weekend Ambassador and will take the team-lead in facilitating their teammates’ efforts. Players will wear monochromatic all-black and all-white uniforms. Each home team will decide which colorway it will wear during the weekend. Players’ Weekend will also be the first MLB event with league-wide batting helmets, which will be decorated in matte black and matte white to further accentuate the uniforms. After the conclusion of Players’ Weekend, game-worn jerseys and batting helmets will be auctioned at MLB.com/auctions. All proceeds will be donated to the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation.
