Echo Fox' Future Remains Uncertain With Proposed Sale Of LCS Slot

Fox is still determined to remain in the esports industry after he sells his LCS teamGETTY IMAGES

Echo Fox team Owner Rick Fox said that the future of his esports organization is "uncertain and may include rebranding" once the sale of the team's slot in the League of Legends Championship Series is complete, according to H.B. Duran of THE ESPORTS OBSEREVER. The Echo Fox sale to Kroenke Sports & Entertainment is still "subject to approval by LCS." Should the proposal be rejected, Echo Fox has "agreed that LCS will be taking over the sale process for the slot, with the goal of having a seamless transition" for the '20 season. Fox originally felt an auction would "bring the value of their team's LCS slot up, which would benefit all teams in the long run." He said that three "purchase offers" were posed to Echo Fox during the auction, including one from L.A. Gladiators Owner KSE. In the end, investors "pressured Fox" to submit to the KSE sales proposal. Meanwhile, Fox is still "determined to remain in the esports industry." Fox: "I'm not going anywhere" (ESPORTSOBSERVER.com, 8/4).
