Chiefs Staying Mum On Status Of Future Training Camp Site Bids

Chiefs officials "aren’t saying which cities or universities are bidding to host the team’s training camp" in the future, as they wrap up the final year of a 10-year, $25M publicly-subsidized agreement to hold camp at Missouri Western State Univ. in St. Joseph, according to a K.C. STAR editorial. Missouri Western AD Josh Looney said that this year’s camp is "on a record-setting pace for spectators." As part of the state-approved agreement, the Chiefs "agreed to contribute" $10M for a $13.5M indoor football complex at the university "in exchange for" a $25M tax credit. The Chiefs "aren’t saying much about their future plans, but Missouri Western appears to be a strong contender." Chiefs President Mark Donovan at the start of this year’s camp said, "Somebody is going to have to come in here and overwhelm us to take it away from St. Joe" (K.C. STAR, 8/5).
