Vikings Hope To Have Kevin Warren's Replacement Soon

The Vikings are looking at both internal and external candidates to replace Warren (r)getty images

Vikings co-Owner & President Mark Wilf said that the team's search for a new COO to replace Kevin Warren, who left in June to become Big Ten Commissioner, will "focus on the business side of the franchise," according to Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE. That means that "future decisions regarding the Vikings’ football leadership are expected to be made solely by ownership." Wilf said, "It’s certainly primarily a business-side (job)." Krammer notes the Vikings are "looking at internal and external candidates to replace Warren." One "in-house option" is Exec VP & CFO Steve Poppen, who is in his 21st season with the Vikings. Poppen "oversees the team’s day-to-day financial operations." Wilf said the team is hoping to "have something in place relatively shortly" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 7/30).
