EPL club Tottenham Hotspur has reached an eight-year, US$398.4M extension with insurance group AIA to remain the jersey sponsor. AIA has been Tottenham's shirt sponsor since '13, but the new deal is a "significant rise in revenue." It matches the annual value of the deal Chelsea signed in '15 with Yokohama. ManU's seven-year deal with Chevrolet remains the biggest in the EPL at about $62.3M per year (BBC.com, 7/25). See SBD Global for more international news.
SPIKING SALES: NBCUniversal saw a 10% increase "in the volume of advance advertising commitments it secured in the industry’s annual 'upfront' advertising market," as ad gains were "aided by the sale of spots" for the '20 Tokyo Games. The company "indicated that without the Olympics sales, the volume of advance commitments was up 3%" (VARIETY.com, 7/25).
FREEZE FRAME: Canon Canada has become the OWL Toronto Defiant’s "official camera and streaming camera sponsor in a multi-year agreement." In addition to adding a Canon logo to its jerseys, the Defiant will "share a 'Canon Photo of the Day' from all matches via social media and hold a contest to find an 'Official Home Game Photographer' for the team" for the '20 season (ESPORTSOBSERVER.com, 7/25).
