Media Notes

In Boston, Nora Princiotti notes Bill Belichick "played a large role in the creation" of the upcoming NFL Network special, "The NFL’s All-Time Team." Belichick "filmed the six-episode series for two days in May" with host Rich Eisen and NBC's Cris Collinsworth. Belichick said, "It was a great honor for me to be a part of the selection process and be a part of the show." He said that the selection process "was difficult, but it sounded like he got a lot out of learning what goes on at NFL Films and in the making of a television special" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/25).

BACK IN FULL SWING: On Long Island, Neil Best notes Tuesday night’s Padres-Mets game "marked a return to a fully normal schedule" for SNY's Ron Darling for the "first time since June 4, when he came back from nearly two months away" recovering from surgery for thyroid cancer. Darling said he feels "fantastic." For the next 12 weeks, Darling "plans to take a day off only once every couple of weeks as he navigates the rest of the Mets season as well as Turner’s slate" during the NLCS. After that, he will be "re-evaluated by doctors regarding treatment" (NEWSDAY, 7/25).

BIDDING ADIEU: In Cincinnati, Dave Clark notes the Brewers honored longtime Reds play-by-play broadcaster Marty Brennaman yesterday during what was "expected to be his final game in the booth at Miller Park, recognizing him on the video board and welcoming him into the opposing team's broadcast booth for an inning of the series finale." The Brewers also "gave Brennaman gifts Tuesday night and said farewell to him in the media room with a meal that included Skyline Chili" (CINCINNATI ENQUIRER, 7/25).
