Amazon's "All Or Nothing" On Panthers' Down Season Drops Friday

Amazon will "release all eight episodes of the latest season of its 'All or Nothing'" series featuring the NFL Panthers, and it is "not a spoiler to say that the season chosen to be documented was a bit unfortunate," according to Scott Fowler of the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. The Panthers began the season "looking like they might grab it all, and instead they came away with nothing." However, the show "gives a lot to those who care even a little about the Panthers." In many places, "All or Nothing" is "phenomenal," and in a "few places, it is flawed." Fowler: "But if you consider yourself any sort of Panthers fan, this show is must-see TV." Former Panthers Owner Jerry Richardson's name is "never mentioned in a single episode," while new Owner David Tepper is a "clear standout" in the series. Panthers QB Cam Newton also "dominates the show" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 7/17). NFL Network’s Kay Adams said the Panthers in “All Or Nothing” have to “navigate a difficult, yet very compelling path as their season unfolds.” Adams said she got a “little goosebumps here in the studio” watching the trailer from the series because “it’s really exciting” (“Good Morning Football,” NFL Network, 7/15).

NEW THIS FALL: DEADLINE's Peter White noted Yahoo Sports is "kicking off a short-form doc series featuring NFL stars from Bright Bay Creative." The platform launched "Play It Forward" on Monday, which will "feature the likes" of Raiders WR Antonio Brown, Redskins RB Adrian Peterson and Eagles WR Desean Jackson. There will be "two 11-minute episodes each week on Mondays and Thursdays for eight weeks across the off-season." The series will "give viewers a glimpse into the players' rise to the top and the ways they like to give back to the people who have supported them along the way" (DEADLINE.com, 7/15). In Virginia, Lee Tolliver noted NFL Films is spending a week documenting Pro Football HOFer Bruce Smith's career to put together a "one-hour episode of 'A Football Life.'" NFL Films "started its production Monday" (Norfolk VIRGINIAN-PILOT, 7/16).
