HELPING OUT: Patriots Owner ROBERT KRAFT on Saturday attended a memorial at Gillette Stadium for "seven motorcyclists killed in a collision with a truck last month and pledged to donate $100,000 to help the victims' families" (AP, 7/13)....Meanwhile, Kraft has been "stepping out with the same mystery woman at multiple high-profile sporting events, fueling rumors" that he may be "moving on from ex-girlfriend RICKI NOEL LANDER." Kraft's "new companion" has been identified as N.Y.-based DR. DANA BLUMBERG (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/15).

REVIEWS ARE IN: In Boston, Michael Silverman wrote in MLB Commissioner Emeritus BUD SELIG's new book, Selig "circles the wagons around his legacy the tightest when it comes to the perception that he and the owners were slow to react to the growth and impact of steroids." However, when it "comes to accusations of letting the scandal grow under his watch because of inattention or a belief that fans wanted more offense, Selig offers withering critiques of the union's repeated resistance to testing." On other matters in the book, like economic reform, Selig "offers refreshing takes on the limited vision and selfish reasoning of his fellow owners."  (BOSTONHERALD.com, 7/13).

BLAZING THEIR OWN PATHS: In San Jose, Kerry Crowley profiled MLB Giants PA announcer RENEL BROOKS-MOON, who is the “first and only female African-American public address announcer” in the league and is still just one of two women ballpark announcers in MLB. Brooks-Moon is “revered as a trailblazer,” and now she is “leading other women on the trail.” Brooks-Moon is at the “center of an ever-growing circle of women in on-air roles with the Giants.” AMY GUTIERREZ is the field reporter for NBC Sports Bay Area, while KELLI JOHNSON hosts the pregame and postgame shows for the network. CARMEN KIEW "co-hosts her own postgame show, ‘Triples Alley,’ on NBCSBA.” Giants in-game host THERESE VINAL is the fifth female in the organization with an on-air role (MERCURYNEWS.com, 7/12).

CELEBRITY SIGHTINGS: Amazon CEO JEFF BEZOS and his girlfriend, LAUREN SANCHEZ, were spotted at Wimbledon yesterday (NYPOST.com, 7/14). Also spotted were KATE MIDDLETON, PRINCE WILLIAM, KENDALL JENNER, musician PHARRELL WILLIAMS, actresses KATE BECKINSALE and CATHERINE ZETA-JONES, and actor BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH (FOOTWEARNEWS.com, 7/14). Former players ROD LAVER, JOHN NEWCOMBE and STEFAN EDBERG were also seen ("Wimbledon," ESPN, 7/14).

NAMES: Kentucky AD MITCH BARNHART has been named NCAA D-I Men’s Basketball Committee Chair for the ’20-21 season (COURIER-JOURNAL.com, 7/12)....Golden Knights Owner BILL FOLEY is “looking to construct a new aircraft hanger on the south end of Henderson Executive Airport’s airfield through Fidelity National Financial.” Foley “already has a hangar at a separate portion of the airport, but it is not adequately sized to house the over a dozen aircraft in his fleet” (REVIEWJOURNAL.com, 7/13)....Knicks F MARCUS MORRIS and his agent, Klutch Sports Group’s RICH PAUL, have “agreed to part ways,” according to sources. The separation “comes after a controversial free agency” in which Morris signed a one-year, $15M deal with the Knicks after “reneging on an agreement with the Spurs” for two years, $20M (NYDAILYNEWS.com, 7/14).
