In DC, Thom Loverro wrote the odds that city officials "would make a deal" with Redskins Owner Dan Snyder for a new stadium "went from long shot to Buster Douglas-Mike Tyson odds" with the controversy over ethics violations committed by DC Council member Jack Evans. Whatever "political muscle" Evans had before will now be needed to "save his own political future." Evans has been the Redskins‘ "best friend in the city and the most influential supporter of plans to get the team back" (WASHINGTONTIMES.com, 7/14).

BIGGER IN TEXAS: Part of TCU's Amon G. Carter Stadium expansion "includes a new video board/scoreboard" that will be "bigger than the video board/scoreboard at McLane Stadium at Baylor." The video board at McLane Stadium is 47 feet high by 107 feet wide, while TCU’s new Jumbotron will be 108 feet, 4 inches wide, and 48 feet, 6 inches high. Sources at TCU said that these dimensions were "done by design, to ensure this board will be bigger than the little one in Waco" (Ft. Worth STAR-TELEGRAM, 7/14).

CAPITAL COSMETICS: The Charles E. Smith Center at George Washington will get a new addition as the playing surface is being refinished this summer. The court will now feature the border of the nation's capital as the backdrop to the GW Athletics mark at center court. In addition, situated high above the floor is a new centerhung video display system. The new system features 125% more pixels than the previous system while also bringing HD resolution to each of the four main displays (GW).
