Edmonton Eskimos Offering Ticket Deals To Boost Attendance

Fans under the age of 17 will have free admission to Eskimos games through Sept. 7 GETTY IMAGES

The CFL Edmonton Eskimos are allowing fans to "sit in general admission seats" for $22 (all figures C), with "tax and service fees included, if they purchase advance tickets," according to Jason Herring of the EDMONTON SUN. Same-day general admission tickets will "cost only $25 after tax -- prices the team says are the cheapest they've offered in almost a decade." The Eskimos also are allowing "free admission for those ages 17 and under" for games through Sept. 7. These deals come amid "declining attendance not just for the Eskimos but across the CFL." Eskimos VP/Finance & Business Administration Mandy Johnston said, "The one thing we could control was the price. We heard loud and clear that affordability was a factor." Herring noted the Eskimos have "often led the league in attendance over their history." Some season-ticket holders now are "asking why they pay top dollar for their seats while the team introduces deals like this" (EDMONTON SUN, 7/9).
