Utah Sports Commission President & CEO Jeff Robins said the '20 Monster Energy Supercross schedule will end at the Univ. of Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium in May, giving the state "one of the biggest sporting events ever held in Utah,” according to Kurt Kragthorpe of the SALT LAKE TRIBUNE. The circuit's World Finale has been staged in Las Vegas for the past 23 years. The Las Vegas stop "moves to the second-to-last week" of the '20 season, with the final event scheduled for May 2 in Salt Lake City. The competition "will be televised by NBC" (SALT LAKE TRIBUNE, 7/10). In Utah, Trent Wood notes over the years, Supercross fans in the state have "established a reputation as being among the most devoted in the country." The devotion, the fandom, and the interest in Supercross "paid off in a big way" by landing the World Finale. It will be the "largest sporting event" held in Utah since the '02 Games. Salt Lake City landed the World Finale as part of a "new rotating market approach by Feld Entertainment," the live show production company behind the event (DESERET NEWS, 7/10).
