Franchise Notes

In N.Y., Brian Lewis notes when Nets Majority Owner Mikhail Prokhorov sells his remaining 51% of the team to Joe Tsai, he will "hand over a better team than he found." Tsai said, "I feel extremely lucky to come into this situation when I do have an opportunity to take over the team -- exercising the option -- I feel like I’ve inherited something that’s very, very good, that’s kind of passed on from the prior ownership." Prokhorov said, "Part of the strategy over the last three years was to develop a good roster of young players and clear cap space to get some big-name talent, which is exactly what we have done" (N.Y. POST, 7/9).

COME ONE, COME ALL: In Cincinnati, Steve Watkins noted FC Cincinnati "will host all fans for its first-ever Fan Fest" at Nippert Stadium on Aug. 4. The free event will take place a day after FC Cincinnati’s home match against the Whitecaps. Players and coaches will "conduct a kids mini-clinic on the field." Fans can also "tour the locker room, watch a youth soccer match on the field featuring West End Pride teams and watch or play FIFA video games on the video board against FC Cincinnati’s eMLS representative, Fiddle" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 7/8).

READY FOR ACTION: PRO SOCCER USA's Luis Torres noted Nashville SC season-ticket memberships for the club's first MLS campaign in '20 are "now on sale." Prices "range from $425 for supporters’ section and north end seats to $3,400 for field level." Nashville SC will "play its first two MLS seasons at Nissan Stadium." The club "hopes to have its soccer-specific stadium at the Fairgrounds just south of Downtown Nashville ready" by '22 (PROSOCCERUSA.com, 7/8).
