Suns Negotiating New Radio Deal With Longtime Partner KMVP-AM

One of the few alternatives for the Suns is iHeartRadio, which owns KGME-AM and five FM stations in the areaNBAE/GETTY IMAGES

The Suns and KMVP-FM are in talks for a "new broadcast rights deal amid rumors that the team isn't completely happy with the partnership," according to Scott Bordow of THE ATHLETIC. It is thought that the two sides "will sign a new deal, continuing their partnership" that began with the '76-77 season, though KMVP's focus on the Cardinals "reportedly has irked some Suns front office officials." The "only realistic alternative" for the Suns is iHeartRadio, which owns KGME-AM, along with five FM stations in the region. iHeart "could put Suns games on one of its FM signals while keeping the current format during the day." Meanwhile, there is "still no word as to whether longtime radio play-by-play voice Al McCoy will return for his 48th season." McCoy in March indicated that he would take a few months after the season "before deciding whether to return," the same tact he has used following the past few seasons (THEATHLETIC.com, 6/28).
