St. John's Returns To Nike Following Six-Year Deal With Under Armour

Nike will design and provide footwear, apparel and equipment for all 17 of St. John's athletic programsGETTY IMAGES

St. John's athletics will once again be "outfitted by Nike," after the school signed a contract with the company following the expiration of its six-year deal with Under Armour, according to Zach Braziller of the N.Y. POST. The change "hardly comes as a surprise," as SJU AD Mike Cragg, who is entering his second year with the school, had "worked closely with Nike" during his time with Duke. Nike will "design and provide footwear, apparel and equipment for training and game-day uniforms for all 17 St. John’s athletic programs." Cragg said, "To have that partner back is very important." He added that the partnership will be "similar to the one" SJU had with UA. Cragg said that all programs will "receive new uniforms, but there won’t be significant changes this coming season" (N.Y. POST, 7/2).

ARE YOU READY, KIDS? In Seattle, Mike Vorel notes Washington's 10-year, $119M deal with Adidas officially went into effect yesterday. UW's new football uniforms will be unveiled on July 10. To accompany the unveiling, the school will launch the PartnerShip, a "customized boat designed to celebrate the Huskies' transition to Adidas." There will be a "closed media boat cruise aboard the PartnerShip" next Tuesday, where media members will be "allowed to see the uniforms and later publish descriptions -- though photos and videos will be prohibited." The uniform rollout will "culminate with an Adidas launch party on the day of the home football game against USC, Sept. 28" (SEATTLE TIMES, 7/2).
