Pelicans Want Season-Ticket Sales To Reach 14,000-15,000 This Year

Pelicans brass is excited for the chance to market to a fanbase ready to support No. 1 pick Zion WilliamsonPELICANS

Pelicans President Dennis Lauscha said the team has exceeded 10,000 season-ticket sales this year, but “would love to be” at 14,000-15,000. Lauscha, appearing on ESPN Radio 100.3 New Orleans -- the team's new flagship station -- said, "Hopefully we can get there. ... That would put us in a strata that we’ve never been before." The Pelicans are trying to be "transformative on the gameday experience," and are working closely with the league "to do some special things." New Pelicans Exec VP/Basketball Operations David Griffin said the team is “almost like an expansion franchise with all of the corporate knowledge already in place." Griffin: "That’s a rare gift. I’m really excited about the fact that we get to basically do a reboot." He added, "Typically what happens when you’re rebuilding is you have to start over again. That’s absolutely not what’s happening here and it’s not what I believe in doing" (“Sports Hangover,” ESPN Radio 100.3 New Orleans, 6/26).
