Fox Sees Slight Uptick For NASCAR Cup Viewership This Year
Fox Sports saw a 2% viewership increase for its Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races this season (excluding any Monday races moved due to inclement weather). It is good news for NASCAR, which is coming off record-low audience figures during the ’18 season. Fox and FS1 combined to average 4.07 million viewers, up from 3.98 million last year. The networks are still down 17% from two seasons ago, when races averaged 4.9 million viewers during the first half of the season. During the ’16 season, Fox and FS1 averaged 5.58 million viewers. The increase for Fox Sports this year comes despite another record-low audience for the Daytona 500 back in February. But Fox Sports did see gains for six of its comparable races this season, including the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend, which was up 11%.
