Dodgers Want MLB To Help Curb Fans Running Onto Field

Bellinger had fans run on to the field and hug him in two consecutive games this weekGETTY IMAGES

Dodgers 3B Justin Turner is calling for MLB to increase its efforts to keep players safe after a fan last night "rushed the field to approach a Dodgers player" for the third straight game, according to Jorge Castillo of the L.A. TIMES. A young boy ran onto Chase Field immediately after the Dodgers' 3-2 win over the D-backs. Turner said, "It's getting ridiculous. It's just not safe and it seems like they're getting younger and younger and it's going around now that nothing's happening to these young kids. They just kind of get a slap on the wrist. So baseball's going to have to do something to make it hurt enough to keep fans in the stands and not running out on the field." Castillo cited sources as saying that MLB "was in touch" with both the Dodgers and D-backs after a fan on Monday ran toward Dodgers RF Cody Bellinger and that "adjustments to security were expected" prior to last night's game (LATIMES.com, 6/26).
