Rangers Attendance Middle Of Pack In MLB Despite Strong Play

The Rangers currently rank 16th in MLB in attendance and at this pace will draw a bit more than 2 million fansGETTY IMAGES

The Rangers are MLB's "biggest surprise" this season, in contention for an AL Wild Card spot, but so far fans are "not going" to games at Globe Life Park, according to Mac Engel of the Ft. Worth STAR-TELEGRAM. Globe Life Field is set to open in '20 with a retractable roof, and one of the "primary reasons the Rangers needed a new park was because fans want air conditioning." The temperature in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area has "been cool since the start of the season," but the Rangers "currently average 26,353 fans per game." And that figure "is inflated." The Rangers "currently rank 16th in MLB in attendance" and at this pace "will draw a bit more than 2 million fans." Typically the Rangers "need to draw about 3 million fans to ensure a profitable season" (STAR-TELEGRAM.com, 6/20).
