The Univ. of Michigan athletic department "expects to close the year" with a $1M surplus on $190.7M in operating revenues for FY '19, about $1.5M less than what was budgeted last June, according to Martin Slagter of MLIVE.com. UM AD Warde Manuel "anticipates a balanced budget for the coming year," projected at $196.2M and approved by the regents. The athletic department is projecting a $3.1M "increase in ticket revenue for the coming year, which is primarily the result of an increase in non-student football ticket prices." UM expects to take in $56.6M in total ticket revenue, compared to $53.5M this past year. In FY '18, the football program took in $46.2M in "revenue from ticket sales, which was about $500,000 more than it budgeted." The men’s basketball team also "outperformed ticket revenue projections," collecting $4.8M -- "about $600,000 more than it budgeted" (MLIVE.com, 6/20).
