NBA Franchise Notes: Raptors Working On Justin Trudeau Visit

Raptors coach Nick Nurse said that the team has a "meeting in the works" with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Nurse added that he "hasn't heard from the White House about a congratulatory meeting." He said, "I have heard nothing about the White House. We are Canada's team anyway, right?" Nurse would not say whether he would accept a meeting with President Trump. Nurse: "We are here. Let's go see Trudeau up in Ottawa" (CP, 6/19).

BLANK CHECK: In S.F., Connor Letourneau notes Warriors President of Basketball Operations & GM Bob Myers "won't have to worry about" whether team co-Owner Joe Lacob will "put financial constraints on him." Myers said, "Winning has really always been the primary goal. We run a business, so it's not being completely fiscally irresponsible. But every time that I've come to Joe about something that has benefited us competitively, he has responded affirmatively and said, 'OK.' There's never even really been a hard budget, so to speak" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 6/20).

WHERE DO THEY GO NOW? In DC, Barry Svrluga writes under the header, "The Washington Wizards' Lack Of A GM Is Getting Curiouser And Curiouser." No other NBA team picking in tonight's Draft or "preparing to sign a free agent next week will be doing so with a guy who might or might not be the full-time solution leading the charge." It is "hard to say what's more problematic here," whether interim GM Tommy Sheppard is "permanently the guy going forward, or if Sheppard is not permanently the guy going forward" (WASHINGTON POST, 6/20).
