In Green Bay, Richard Ryman noted with the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straights and the Wisconsin-Notre Dame football game at Lambeau Field "falling on consecutive weekends" in '20, the Packers "might ask the NFL to put them on the road those weeks." Packers Dir of Public Affairs Aaron Popkey said that the team "certainly will seek to play on the road the week of the Notre Dame-Wisconsin game, which is on a Saturday, but the team has not decided about the week of the Ryder Cup." Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau President & CEO Brad Toll said that it "would be a good idea for the Packers to hit the road" (GREEN BAY PRESS-GAZETTE, 6/14).
SHORT STAY: The Bills are "planning to hold 10 practices" at St. John Fisher College during training camp, although two are "closed to the public and none will be held at night." Bills GM Brandon Beane said that a "major reason" for the shorter stay is the "logistics involved with holding joint practices" with the Panthers Aug. 13 and 14 in Spartanburg, S.C., in advance of the Aug. 16 preseason game at Bank of America Stadium. Another factor in fewer public sessions is, when "rotating fields to give the main grass turf a rest, the team ends up working on fields behind the St. John Fisher fieldhouse that has minimal spectator seating" (BUFFALONEWS.com, 6/14).
TALKIN' PRACTICE: The Seahawks will "begin training camp July 25" and will hold 12 practices that are "open to the public." The Seahawks also announced they will hold one practice, Aug. 3, at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell. That practice will begin at 1:30pm PT. The "other 11 open practices will be held at the VMAC in Renton." The Seahawks will "again charge a transportation fee of $10 as fans will be required to park off-site and be shuttled to VMAC before each practice" (SEATTLE TIMES, 6/18).
