Blues Merchandise Flying Off Shelves With Stanley Cup Victory

Fanatics began selling items celebrating the Stanley Cup win within a minute of Game 7 endingfanatics

Fanatics said that sales of Blues championship apparel and memorabilia set an NHL record for the 12-hour period "after winning a title," with sales up 10% from the Capitals' record last year, according to Eben Novy-Williams of BLOOMBERG NEWS. Fanatics, which runs the online stores for both the NHL and the Blues, "began offering items touting the championship within a minute of the final whistle." The company does not give out specific sales numbers, but it said that 70% of transactions have "come from mobile devices" (BLOOMBERG NEWS, 6/13). In St. Louis, Benchaabane & Heffernan note lines at Enterprise Center yesterday "snaked through the arena store with fans on the hunt for Stanley Cup merchandise." Dick’s Sporting Goods "sold out most shirts and hats within 30 minutes of opening their St. Louis area locations" at 7:00am CT. Dick's spokesperson Scott Casey said, “People are picking them up as soon as they hit the table. We’ve had six or seven more shipments already and more are coming.” By 9:00am, "most copies of the Thursday edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch were sold out at retailers, prompting a Friday reprint of 60,000 copies of the paper announcing the Stanley Cup win" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 6/14).
