The Phillies on Thursday hosted "about 2,000 people" at Citizens Bank Park to pay tribute to late Chair DAVID MONTGOMERY, who died May 8 after a five-year battle with cancer. The group of attendees "included many former Phillies players from several different eras, including the current one." Former Pennsylvania Gov. ED RENDELL and MLB Commissioner ROB MANFRED both addressed the crowd (NBCSPORTSPHILADELPHIA.com, 6/6). Montgomery was remembered during the 90-minute ceremony as a "champion for Philadelphia who always made his employees feel appreciated and never forgot his humble Roxborough roots" (PHILADELPHIA INQUIRER, 6/7).

NAMES: PEYTON MANNING and Univ. of Kansas football coach LES MILES will be inducted into the Louisiana Sports HOF on Saturday.
