Media Notes

The WALL STREET JOURNAL's Jason Gay writes "everyone wants a piece" of heavyweight boxing champ Andy Ruiz Jr., after his upset win over Anthony Joshua over the weekend. Ruiz' management was "fielding inquiries" from ESPN, Fox, The Ringer's Bill Simmons, Sports Illustrated, CNN, Telemundo, the Daily Mail, the Guardian and "pretty much every outlet imaginable." Since his win, Ruiz' Instagram following has "leapt from 62,000 followers" to about 848,000. He also has an "invitation to meet" with Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 6/6).

BOUNCING BLUES: In St. Louis, Dan Caesar noted Game 4 of the Blues-Bruins Stanley Cup Final drew a 28.0 rating in St. Louis, while the rating in Boston was a 26.0. The St. Louis figure "follows a disappointing 16.1 figure for Game 3," which was "fueled in large part by a Bruins rout plus the telecast being on NBCSN," as opposed to NBC. St. Louis' Game 4 rating was the "second-best on record for an NHL game, trailing the 29.0 figure Game 1 drew last week" (STLTODAY.com, 6/5).

YELLING AT CLOUD, NOTHING MORE: In Pittsburgh, Tim Benz writes longtime Pirates broadcaster Steve Blass' "reputation in baseball should stand on its own," and that he is not the "racist some are painting him out to be." Blass made comments "critical" of Braves RF Ronald Acuna Jr. wearing jewelry on the field during Braves-Pirates on Tuesday. Benz writes what Blass is "guilty of is being stodgy and dated," but "not racist" (TRIBLIVE.com, 6/6).
