Call The Nurse: Raptors Coach Styles In Custom Nike Hats

Raptors coach Nick Nurse during the postseason has gained notoriety for wearing custom-made black Nike hats featuring his "NN" initials, and ESPN's Scott Van Pelt following last night's NBA Finals Game 3 said he has become "obsessed with that." Van Pelt called it "quite a flex" and said, "I joked on Twitter I'm going to slap my logo on a hat and I'm selling them." Raptors G Kyle Lowry said, "I didn't know what it was until maybe April. I'm like, 'What is that?' It's not really a logo, it's his initials." Van Pelt was not having it, saying, "Your man's got a logo. He's got two lower-case N's that are black on black. That's a logo, man. He's got his thing." But Lowry insisted, "That's not a logo. That is his initials, that is all that is. But if we want to say it's a logo -- listen, congratulations to Nick Nurse, you have a cool logo" ("SportsCenter," ESPN, 6/5). THE RINGER's John Gonzalez noted Nurse earlier in the playoffs explained that during the season he "was wearing a TravisMathew hat with a similar color scheme and design until a Nike rep told him he should wear his own gear and had the 'nn' hat custom made for Nurse." He said, "It's all black. I can wear it with anything. Fits real good." He added there are only four of the hats in existence (THERINGER.com, 5/29).
