Vandy AD Sees Planned Renovations As Precursor For Larger Projects

Vanderbilt Stadium's south end zone videoboard will be removed, and the north end zone board replacedVANDERBILT UNIV.

Vanderbilt AD Malcolm Turner sees the Vanderbilt Stadium renovations announced last week "not as a grand solution but as a step toward improvement," according to Blake Toppmeyer of the Nashville TENNESSEAN. Turner last week at the SEC meetings said, "It's what we can feasibly do right now. We're still taking a look at all options that we have available to us, but I didn't want to take a position of, let's wait and see for an eventual, longer-term solution, when there are things that we can do right now." Toppmeyer notes the videoboard in the south end zone of Vanderbilt Stadium "will be removed, and the videoboard in the north end zone will be replaced." Renovations to restrooms also "will begin soon" as part of a "series of enhancements to address fans' complaints about the poor game-day experience." Turner said in addition to the stadium, "there are other facilities" tied to the football program that "also requires our attention." Turner said that some of the football facility improvements "can begin before this season, while others will have to wait until after the season" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 6/6).
