Trey Bien: Orioles Launch All-Star Campaign For 1B/OF Mancini

The Orioles' Trey Mancini "picked a good day" to hit his 12th home run of the season yesterday, as the team is currently "mounting a campaign to get him elected to the All-Star team and distributed a new #VoteTrey T-Shirt to his teammates and other Orioles personnel around the ballpark," according to Peter Schmuck of the BALTIMORE SUN. During yesterday's loss against the Giants at Camden Yards, Baseball HOFer Brooks Robinson held up one of the Mancini T-shirts and "saluted the crowd of 16,991 on the video scoreboard during the second inning." Though most of his teammates "donned the shirts proudly in the clubhouse, Mancini was sheepish about wearing his own name emblazoned in large letters on his chest" (BALTIMORE SUN, 6/3). Mancini this season is batting .302 to go along with 67 hits, 17 doubles and the 12 homers, putting him in the top 10 of all AL outfielders in those categories (THE DAILY).
