Raiders Selling Well Enough To Add $40M To Stadium Project

The Raiders' new Las Vegas stadium will "see a price increase" as it approaches the halfway mark of construction, according to Bryan Horwath of the LAS VEGAS SUN. The price increase comes because the Raiders have "sold so many personal seat licenses, stadium suites, club seats and sponsorships that they have more cash to put into the project." Las Vegas Stadium COO Don Webb said that about $40M more will be put into the stadium, and will "go toward things like more suites and exterior restrooms, more plaza security, a beefed-up area for the working press and an enhanced stadium communications system." Webb did not get into specific sales numbers, but he did say that they were "very robust." He added that one of the enhanced areas will be a 26,000-square-foot "south end zone club space that would hold around 800 fans." Webb: "This is converting less-easily sold individual seats into a higher revenue-producing suite package. In addition, one level up, on the lower-suite concourse, we're adding 14 suites there. A total of 20 suites all together will be added" (LASVEGASSUN.com, 5/23).

ON-SITE PARKING: Webb said that the Raiders are in the "final stretch of completing a comprehensive transportation plan that will boost available parking significantly" for the new stadium. He added that the plan will be "completed next month and then released to the public." More Webb: "We've been actively acquiring real estate near the stadium which we intend to develop and devote to parking. One such current acquisition will more than double the parking that we currently control." In Las Vegas, Mick Akers in a front-page piece notes doubling the on-site parking number would "bring the project into compliance with the county's requirement" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 5/24).
