Keynotes from YouTube and NFL Highlight Horizon Summit Day Two

Horizon Summit – Day Two

Track 5 – Traditional Learning, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence | 9:30 – 10:40 a.m.

  • Donny White | CEO & Co-Founder of Satisfi Labs | 9:30 – 9:50 a.m.

Don White is the CEO and Co-Founder of Satisfi Labs. He is a business strategist and entrepreneur with a long history of bridging complex technology solutions with client needs. White is a key voice in the Artificial Intelligence startup community, regularly providing commentary around the future of AI and its impact on our lives and commerce. Currently, in the sports industry, data is unlocking new fan engagement and monetization opportunities for teams and leagues. White will be discussing how to make this data ready for the next wave of strategy disruption: artificial intelligence. The main takeaway for the audience will be knowing how ready they are to take advantage of AI.

  • Scott Sonnenberg | Chief Global Partnerships Officer, LA Clippers | 9:55 – 10:15 a.m.

Scott Sonnenberg joined the LA Clippers as the team’s chief global partnerships officer in May 2018. He oversees Clippers partnerships, in and out of arena advertising sales, digital and social media sales, radio sales, and partnership marketing. He manages the day-to-day sales efforts of the corporate partnerships department. Notable partnerships added in Sonnenberg’s first season include Vivid Seats becoming an official ticket marketplace of the team and Amazon Web Services being named the primary cloud computing, machine learning, and artificial intelligence provider of the live, augmented Clippers CourtVision digital viewing experience. His presentation will focus on their initial feedback from early users of their CourtVision product and how it is attempting to provide a new viewing opportunity for Clippers games.

  • Russell Scibetti | President, Planning & Insights, KORE Software | 10:20 – 10:40 a.m.

In his role as president of KORE Planning & Insights, Russell Scibetti oversees KORE’s business intelligence consulting division, helping teams, league, venues and providers take full advantage of emerging data and technology platforms. Scibetti spent his first three years at KORE as the vice president of product strategy where he was responsible for the strategic vision, planning, and development of the KORE Ticketing & Fan Engagement, Sponsorship & Partner Engagement, Suites & Premium and Data Warehouse & Analytics applications. Scibetti will talk about the importance of trends and benchmarking to drive best practices and actionable insights.

Track 6 – Fan Engagement | 10:50 a.m. – 12:05 p.m.

  • Anthony Perez | CEO, VenueNext | 10:50 – 11:10 a.m.

Anthony Perez serves as CEO of VenueNext, a leading mobile commerce and smart venue technology company. Prior to joining VenueNext, Perez spent 10 years at the NBA’s Orlando Magic, most recently in the role of chief marketing officer. Perez knows better than anyone that the methods and reasons behind fans spending money at sporting events is shifting rapidly. How will sports betting provide new opportunities for teams and venues to monetize fans? What hardware will be required in the future in an increasingly mobile world? Perez will share his valuable perspective on these important trends as they pertain to the future of commerce and payment solutions in sports and entertainment.

  • Conor Higgins | Research & Analysis Manager, Manchester United FC | 11:15 – 11:35 a.m.

Based at Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium, Higgins is responsible for primary research across the club. His role supports fan engagement, sponsorship and media strategies through quantitative research, typically conducted through online surveys, as well as qualitative research, such as focus groups. He will be sharing insights from his unique position of engaging and receiving feedback from Manchester United’s 659 million global followers and how that feedback ultimately leads to the club’s data-driven fan engagement strategies as one of the world’s largest team brands.

  • Michael James | Associate VP, TMBO Innovation, Strategy & Analytics, NBA | 11:40 a.m. – 12:05 p.m.

Michael James helps drive team marketing and business operations innovation for the NBA. He has overseen the growth of the league’s strategy and analytics functions, which started with general reporting and benchmarking, and has evolved to include sophisticated business strategy and business intelligence verticals that focus on strategic consulting and quantitative product development. Ultimately, his team provides data-driven decision making support for the league and its teams. He will be discussing how he works to keep the league and its teams ahead of the curve and operating as a cohesive intelligent unit when it comes to organizing and analyzing their many different data streams around fan engagement.

Allison Katz-Mayfield works for the National Football League as senior director of strategy and analytics for Club Business Development. In this role, she focuses on leveraging analytics to support club executives in all aspects of their business operations including sponsorship sales and activation, ticket sales and retention, premium seating, and local media rights. Previously, Katz-Mayfield was a pricing associate for StubHub, responsible for developing and implementing pricing models and strategies to drive sales and market share.

  • Ian Trombetta | Sr. Vice President, Social and Influencer Marketing, NFL 
  • Iwao Fusillo | Global Head of Data & Analytics, NFL | 2:55 – 3:25 p.m.

Iwao Fusillo serves as the NFL’s senior vice president of data & analytics. Fusillo oversees the NFL’s Data & Analytics Group with a remit to improve the quality and safety of the game of football, better understand and grow the league’s fanbase, and identify the key drivers of fan engagement across television, digital, and social media channels. Fusillo is also leading the league’s innovation program in data & analytics, including the league’s patent strategy for key data-driven technology inventions.

  • Tim Katz | Director, Head of Sports + News Partnerships, YouTube | 3:30 – 4:00 p.m.

Tim Katz leads YouTube’s Sports + News partnerships teams based out of YouTube’s headquarters in San Bruno, Calif. He oversees YouTube’s relationships with news publishers and broadcasters, sports leagues, teams, and athletes. Prior to joining YouTube, Katz worked at ESPN where he worked in consumer marketing on such properties as the NBA, the FIFA World Cup, and SportsCenter.

Track 7 – Next Gen Tech & Innovation | 4:10 – 5:20 p.m.

  • Addy Ryan | Director of Market Research, E15 Group
  • Jennifer Hwang | Director of Analytics, E15 Group | 4:10 – 4:30 p.m.

Addy Ryan is a director of market research at E15 Group, an analytics firm specializing in sports, entertainment, hospitality, technology, and healthcare. Ryan leads qualitative and quantitative research to uncover market and consumer trends, allowing organizations to make data-driven decisions tailored specifically to their business. Jennifer Hwang is the director of analytics at E15 Group, working with the Compass Leadership Team at Google to bring data-driven strategy and insights to more than 900 food locations globally. Prior to joining Google, she worked with the San Francisco 49ers to build the hospitality strategy for Levi’s Stadium, using her passion for sports and food to create meaningful experiences for fans. Together, Ryan and Hwang will be presenting about transforming hospitality through big data.

  • Jesse Lovejoy | Director of 49ers EDU & 49ers Museum, San Francisco 49ers | 4:35 – 4:55 p.m.

Jesse Lovejoy is the director of 49ers EDU & the San Francisco 49ers Museum. Lovejoy joined the 49ers in August 2013, when he was brought on to envision and implement educational and community programming for the team, and develop the content of and operating structure and plan for the 49ers Museum. He spearheaded the 2014 launch of the Museum—a 20,000 square foot facility featuring 11 unique gallery and exhibit spaces exclusively dedicated to the 49ers past, present, and future. At the same time, Lovejoy also led the 49ers in a first for a major sports organization: creating a comprehensive science, technology, engineering, arts, and math education program for students from kindergarten to eighth grade, completely free to the end-user. He will share how sports can be a positive driver of social change and how the EDU program has impacted the lives of its students.

  • Yvonne Cagle | Astronaut, Colonel & Senior Flight Surgeon, NASA/USAF | 5:00 – 5:20 p.m.

Dr. Yvonne Cagle is a NASA astronaut and family physician. In 2008 , Dr. Cagle retired as a colonel in the USAF, where she served as a senior flight surgeon prior to her selection to the NASA Astronaut Corp in 1996. In 2005, Dr. Cagle was assigned to the NASA Ames Research Center as the lead astronaut science liaison and strategic relationships manager for Google and other Silicon Valley partnerships. Dr. Cagle’s groundbreaking work is preserving historic NASA space legacy data while, simultaneously, galvanizing NASA’s initiatives in global mapping, sustainable energies, green initiatives, and disaster preparedness. Her presentation will discuss how she makes complex data-driven decisions for NASA that take into account current priorities while simultaneously planning for long-term projects—think colonizing Mars.
