Fox Sports Wins Best In Sports Media

Silverman made sure to highlight Fox Sports' coverage of the FIFA World Cup in Russia last summerMARC BRYAN-BROWN

Fox Sports cut some of the biggest deals in the business over the past year, including rights deals with MLB, WWE and the NFL for “Thursday Night Football,” plus a deal to sell its RSNs to Disney. But after winning the Sports Business Award for Best in Sports Media last night, Fox Sports President of National Networks Mark Silverman took special note of his company’s coverage of last summer’s World Cup from Russia. “We had a premier global event in the World Cup that I think exceeded everyone’s expectations once the U.S. men’s team didn't make it,” he said. “We still put our resources and made it an event in the U.S. that people were really watching. It was about more than viewership -- it was about making the global World Cup without a U.S. representative still a major event.”
