NBA Takes League Of The Year At Sports Business Awards

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver knows his way to the stage at the Sports Business Awards. He was named Executive of the Year in '15 and this year was there to accept the trophy for Sports League of the Year for the second straight year and third time in his five-year tenure. “We’re fortunate to have a fantastic group of players and owners who enjoy working together along with thousands of others who work at the teams and venues who are committed to a common vision of caring about our fans and caring about the sport,” Silver said afterward. During his acceptance speech a year ago, Silver urged those in attendance, “Don’t stick to sports,” and he sounded a similar call to action from the podium this year. “Through sports we have the ability to bring people together, increasingly people on a global basis together to frankly do what governments in many cases are no longer willing or able to do,” he said. The NBA broke more new ground in the past year, setting attendance records for the fourth straight season.
