Learfield IMG College Restores CLC Brand Name

Learfield IMG College said that it is "restoring the CLC brand name for the combined organization of IMG College Licensing and Learfield Licensing Partners," according to Richard Craver of the WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL. The change is a "nod to the business that founded the collegiate licensing industry" and the combined companies "building college brands and experiences for collegiate institutions across America." Senior VP and Managing Dir Cory Moss, who has been with CLC since '95, "will lead" the company. While the new organization will "begin functioning as CLC, the merger will continue through the end of the year." CLC will be based in Atlanta (WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL, 5/22). No three letters are more synonymous with the business of college sports than CLC. The name still carries plenty of juice on campuses across the country, which is why Learfield IMG College President & CEO Greg Brown brought it back. Moss knows the CLC approach better than anyone at the company after being hired in '95 and learning licensing from the late Bill Battle, who founded the company (Michael Smith, SBJ College).
