The Pelicans have hired Nets Assistant GM Trajan Langdon as the team's new GM, with Langdon "taking on more of the day-to-day duties" to allow Exec VP/Basketball Operations David Griffin to "better sculpt and carry out his much-talked-about vision for the future of the Pelicans franchise," according to Nathan Brown of the Baton Rouge ADVOCATE. Langdon was "one of the six candidates who interviewed" for the Pelicans' previously vacant Exec VP/Basketball Operations position that Griffin was hired for in April. Now the duo "will work together" for the second time in their careers. Langdon was hired in September '15 as Cavaliers Dir of Player Administration & Basketball Operations, where Griffin was then the GM (Baton Rouge ADVOCATE, 5/20). In New Orleans, Andrew Lopez notes Langdon was recently named G League Executive of the Year for the "work he did with the Long Island Nets." Langdon's experience in the G League "will help, as the team introduces its own affiliate next season" in Erie, Pa., before the club "ultimately moves to Birmingham." Thanks to his playing career overseas, Langdon is also "well-respected by the league's foreign players" (New Orleans TIMES-PICAYUNE, 5/20).
