Pawtucket Red Sox President Offers Details On Team's New Ballpark

Triple-A Int'l League Pawtucket Red Sox President Charles Steinberg said that there "will be about 7,200, maybe 7,500," traditional seats in the team's new ballpark in Worcester, while the rest of the space, to allow for 10,000 fans, will be in gathering places, according to Melissa Hanson of MASSLIVE.com. Steinberg on Saturday spoke to at least 40 fans who went to McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket and "offered a few details to give the group an idea of what Polar Park will look like." Steinberg: "We want to design a ballpark where you can meet and mingle." He added, "Almost all of the seats in this ballpark, the way we’re currently sketching it, are going to be between the bases and behind the dugouts." Steinberg said that the ballpark designers are also "thinking about an area for kids to play" (MASSLIVE.com, 5/20).
