Renderings Of Possible New D-Backs Ballpark Wind Up Online

Renderings of a possible new D-backs ballpark "have hit the internet mistakenly," according to Brandon Brown of the PHOENIX BUSINESS JOURNAL. SBNation blog AZ Snake Pit, which covers the D-backs, "republished photos Thursday that were on the website of stadium architecture firm MEIS Architects." MEIS has "since taken down the webpage" and the images of the renderings "were taken down" just after the Snake Pit writer inquired about the project. MEIS' page on the proposed ballpark said that it "included approximately 38,000 seats, 40 luxury suites, 4,000 club/premium seats and a retractable roof." The D-backs claimed not to be aware of the renderings, but the team admitted that it had "interviewed a number of architecture firms about renovating Chase Field" or building a new venue. The D-backs have "long been rumored to be interested in a new ballpark on Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community land, either in between Scottsdale and Tempe" where USL club Phoenix Rising FC plays or "further north closer to the team's spring training complex" (BIZJOURNALS.com, 5/17).
