Still No Decision Made On Team For HBO's "Hard Knocks" In '19

GM John Lynch and the 49ers could be an intriguing choice for "Hard Knocks" this yearGETTY IMAGES

The 49ers are one of five NFL teams who "could in theory" be forced to participate in "Hard Knocks" this year, despite the fact that they "want nothing to do" with the HBO show, according to NBCSN's Mike Florio. NBCSN’s Chris Simms said this season is a "huge year" for 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and "career-defining" for GM John Lynch. However, nobody in the NFL "wants anything to do" with "Hard Knocks," as coaches and front office personnel are all "extremely private." They want "nobody to see behind the curtain, they don't want anybody to know the thought process on a daily basis." Florio believes the "Hard Knocks" team this year is "going to be the Raiders, even though they don’t want to do it" either. The NFL "likes the money, so somebody will do it" (“PFT,” NBCSN, 5/14).

SCREEN TIME: In Charlotte, Marcel Louis-Jacques cited a source as saying that the Panthers "will be featured on Amazon’s 'All or Nothing' series this year, giving football fans a behind-the-scenes look" at the team’s '18 season. "All or Nothing" follows a team "throughout the course of an entire season" and usually airs "months after the previous season ends." This will be the "first time the Panthers are the centerpiece of any behind-the-scenes show" (CHARLOTTEOBSERVER.com, 5/14).
