CFL, CFLPA Reach Tentative Agreement On New Multiyear CBA

The CFL and its players union have "come to terms" on a new CBA, according to Dan Ralph of the CP. The tentative multiyear deal "replaces a five-year contract that was set to expire Saturday." The contract is "pending ratification by the players and approval" from the league's BOG. The CFL "could give its approval" as early as today at a "previously scheduled meeting of its board." However, getting it ratified by the players "will take longer," as the union "must first present the deal to team reps," which will happen today. It will then be "forwarded to the players." The deal was "reached following two straight days of marathon bargaining" ahead of CFL training camps opening Sunday. There was "persistent talk" last week that the league and the CFLPA "remained far apart on many financial fronts" (CP, 5/15).
