Manning's new western-themed Knoxville restaurant will play off his "Sheriff" nicknameGETTY IMAGES

PEYTON MANNING and Graduate Hotels will "open a restaurant in Knoxville" called Saloon 16. The restaurant will be a "western-inspired, high-end 'watering hole.'" The name is inspired by the former NFLer's nickname, "The Sheriff," and his Tennessee football jersey number (KNOXVILLE NEWS SENTINEL, 5/10)....UConn women's basketball coach GENO AURIEMMA and his restaurant group are set to "take over" Cavey’s in Manchester, Conn. Last week, the restaurant "announced the May 24 closing of their 86-year-old fine dining destination," and Auriemma will be "opening a place of his own in the space." He has not yet chosen a name, but the concept "will not be another Geno’s Grille" (HARTFORD COURANT, 5/10).

THE GOOD STUFF: White Sox SS TIM ANDERSON is "donating $500 each time he steals a base this season, with proceeds going to his anti-violence foundation." Anderson currently leads MLB with 12 stolen bases (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 5/10)....Giants QB ELI MANNING, RB SAQUON BARKLEY and WR STERLING SHEPARD earlier this week "smashed eggs on each other's heads" as part of the Crack Cancer Challenge to raise money for Brain Cancer Awareness Month (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 5/9).
